Electrothermal heating elements

The rotor blade heating system consists of integrated heating mats or heating wires that are activated as soon as the sensors in the rotor detect ice formation or low temperatures. They specifically heat the critical points on the leading edge of each rotor blade that are prone to icing.

Overheating prevention

To prevent overheating, the heating elements are monitored by safety temperature limiters or thermostats. These either ensure that critical temperatures are not exceeded by shutting down the system, or they make a fine adjustment to the heating output, which simultaneously optimizes energy consumption.
